Drone Setup & Installation

Follow this guide to go from unboxing to first flight safely and correctly — regardless of which drone you purchased from AI Drone Store.

1

Unbox and Inspect

Remove your drone from packaging and inspect all components for shipping damage. Check the frame, propellers, camera gimbal, and battery compartment. Document any damage before powering on.

2

Charge the Battery

Insert the battery into the intelligent charger included with your drone. A full charge from 0% takes 1–2 hours depending on the model. Never charge a swollen or damaged battery.

3

Download the App

Install the manufacturer app (DJI Fly, DJI Pilot 2, Autel Sky, or model-specific app) from the App Store or Google Play. Create an account and complete the firmware update prompt before your first flight.

4

Register Your Drone

Most drones above 250g require registration with your national aviation authority (FAA in the US, CAA in the UK, etc.). Complete registration before flying. The app will prompt you if required.

5

Calibrate Compass & IMU

Take your drone to an open outdoor area away from metal structures. In the app, navigate to Safety > Sensors and run both compass and IMU calibration. Recalibrate after any shipping or significant travel.

6

Set Home Point & Safety Limits

Before each flight, confirm your Home Point is set correctly (your current location). Set a maximum altitude and distance appropriate for your location and local regulations.

7

Run a Pre-Flight Check

Propellers locked, battery charged above 50%, app connected, GPS signal confirmed (8+ satellites), obstacle avoidance enabled. You're ready to fly.
