How do I check my current firmware version?

Open your drone's companion app (DJI Fly, DJI Pilot 2, or equivalent). Navigate to Settings > About or Safety > Firmware. The current firmware version for both the aircraft and remote controller will be displayed.

My app says a firmware update is available. Should I update?

Yes — firmware updates typically include bug fixes, stability improvements, and new features. Always update before a critical flight. Ensure your battery is above 50% before starting an update. Do not interrupt the update process.

How do I update the drone firmware?

With your drone powered on and connected to the app via Wi-Fi or USB, navigate to the firmware update prompt and tap Update. The download and installation typically take 5–15 minutes. Keep the drone stationary and app open throughout.

My update failed or got stuck. What do I do?

Power cycle both the drone and remote controller. Reopen the app and attempt the update again. If the issue persists, use the manufacturer's Assistant 2 desktop software (available from DJI's website) for a USB-based firmware refresh.

The app won't connect to my drone. What should I check?

Ensure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled on your mobile device. Power cycle both drone and controller. Reinstall the app if the connection issue persists. Some drones require USB-C connection for initial pairing — check your model's manual.

My remote controller needs a separate firmware update. How?
